Coit Road Improvements Update: May 29, 2019
The Town has amended the Thoroughfare Plan to reflect the initial construction of the interior two lanes of Coit Road north of Prosper Trail where there is not existing 120’ of right of way. The Town Council has awarded a contract amendment to the Consultant for the redesign effort. The design continues to unfold for the project from First Street to Frontier Parkway and is currently scheduled for 90% plans submittal in June 2019. Once we have reviewed the 90% submittal we will finalize the alignment and proceed with acquisitions on a few limited pieces of right of way and easements needed for construction.
The proposed traffic signal at Coit and First Street has been funded through the Town’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP) and will be bid out as a separate contract to be awarded by Town Council in July 2019. This will facilitate the traffic through the intersection during the construction phase of Coit Road.
The funding of the construction of Coit Road will be coordinated with the Collin County Road Bond program. We anticipate the County will issue a call for projects late in 2019 and we will nominate the Coit Road project for funding at that time. If successful in securing funding, we will be bidding the project in mid to late 2020.
Coit Road Improvements Update: September, 12, 2018
**Coit Road Expansion Update** The Town of Prosper hosted a public meeting on August 23, 2018, to inform the public about proposed plans to expand Coit Road, and to gather input from those in attendance. Based on feedback from area residents, the Town Council has approved an amendment to the Capital Improvement Program (CIP), and allocated an additional $200,000 in the FY 2018-2019 Budget for the redesign of the Coit Road project, bringing the total design budget to $600,000. The project design will be funded out of the East Thoroughfare Impact Fee Fund. Town staff will prepare an amendment to the Thoroughfare Plan portion of the Comprehensive Plan to specifically modify only the section of Coit Road north of Prosper Trail where there is not 120 feet of right-of-way. This will not affect the intersection widening improvements at Prosper Trail. A Public Hearing on the Comprehensive Plan Amendment will be held at the October 2 Planning and Zoning Commission meeting, and at the October 9 Town Council meeting where the Town Council will consider the proposed amendment. Also on October 9, the Town Council will consider a contract amendment for the redesign of Coit Road. For more information contact the Town’s Engineering Department at 972-346-3502.
The Town of Prosper will host a Public Meeting to discuss the design of Coit Road, from First Street to Frontier Parkway, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 23. The meeting will be held at the Council Chambers located in the new Town Hall at 200 South Main Street.
The Town of Prosper is designing a 4-lane roadway that does not require additional property from residents along Coit Road, and invites resident comments and discussion.
For those unable to attend the meeting, we have included the presentation below.
