As a precautionary measure and due to the rapidly developing situation regarding COVID-19, the Town of Prosper Municipal Court has postponed all court hearings and trials scheduled through June 1, 2020. If your citation has not been resolved prior to your due date or schedule court date, please contact the court for information, possible options and rescheduling at 972-347-3020.
Please contact the court if you have questions, need assistance making a payment or need further information. The court office remains open to the public during regular business hours.
Payments, required documents, and written requests may be placed in the Utility Billing Drop Box outside the building. Items must be in an sealed envelope with the following:
your first and last name
citation number or date of birth
do not put cash in drop box
Personal checks, money orders or cashier checks will be accepted

The Municipal Court handles Class C misdemeanor criminal cases including traffic violations, for which the maximum fine, upon conviction, does not exceed $500 (amount does not include state court costs), and no jail sentence is assessed. The court also handles cases involving violation of city ordinances, which may have fines up to $2,000 for certain offenses (amount does not include state court costs).

The Town of Prosper Municipal Court is located at 200 S. Main Street in downtown Prosper.
The Court hours of operation are:

8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Tuesday
8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Wednesday
8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Thursday
8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Friday
Court sessions are held the first, second, third and fourth Thursday of each month at 9:30 a.m. in the courtroom located at 200 S. Main Street, 1st Floor.

If you have an active warrant and are not able to pay or post bond, you may come to see the Judge to discuss possible payment options during a walk-in docket held on on specific days of the month. Please contact the Marshal’s office at (972) 569-1072 or (972) 347-3020 for more information.

Honorable David Moore
Judge David Moore has served 15 terms as a Municipal Court Judge and Magistrate in Collin and Denton counties. Moore has been a presiding judge for 27 years. He is currently the presiding judge of Prosper, Melissa, Oak Point, Lowry Crossing, Hackberry, New Hope and St. Paul. Judge Moore maintains a strong work ethic and common sense approach to work and life.
He is a member of the Texas Municipal Courts Association and a graduate of the University of Texas. He is also a local businessman and has been a Certified Financial Planner for over 25 years.
