Downtown begins holiday conversion

November 16, 2015

Dressing up the house for Christmas is a time-honored household tradition that usually involves the entire family working together to create a festive atmosphere for the holidays. The same is true for the downtown area in Prosper, as over the next couple of weeks, Town staff will be working together to dress up the site of the 2015 Prosper Christmas Festival.

Residents can expect to see ladders, a hydraulic boom, and a flurry of activity as the area gets decked with holiday gear. The Prosper Community Christmas Tree will be trimmed in lights and ornaments, and Santa’s Workshop will be readied for the day’s special guest and his visitors.

“Lots of Town staff members really pull together for this event,” said Julie Shivers, Recreation Coordinator. “The decorating team goes above and beyond the normal call of duty to make sure downtown Prosper sparkles for the event.”

Family, friends and neighbors are invited to come enjoy the event on December 5, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. to share the joys of the season. Scheduled attractions include booths, vendors, food, drinks, goodies, entertainment, the tree lighting and fireworks. The Lions/Rotary Clubs Parade begins at 2 p.m. prior to the event.

“This is a hometown tradition you won’t want to miss!” she said.
