For the third year in a row, the skies over Prosper will come ablaze with a spectacular fireworks display to celebrate the 240th anniversary of the nation’s independence.
Pride in the Sky returns to Frontier Park on Friday, July 1 from 5 p.m.to 10 p.m., giving Prosper residents and visitors a chance to celebrate and enjoy each other’s company. Frontier Park is located on Frontier Parkway, Prosper’s northern boundary, just west of the BNSF rail tracks.
Parking at the event site will be limited to those with a parking pass. Complimentary passes are included with the purchase of a Pride in the Sky T-shirt or a beverage bracelet, available online at www.prideinthesky.com. The beverage bracelets entitle wearers to unlimited water, Gatorade and sodas at the Cedarbrook Media tent.
For those without a parking pass, a free park and ride service is being offered. Shuttles will be running continuously from the back lot of Prosper High School to and from the park.
Attendees looking to use the shuttle service should take Preston Road and turn west on Frontier Parkway, entering the high school lot from the north end of the campus. Significantly, Frontier Parkway will be closed to through traffic from County Road 50 to County Road 51 from 4:30 p.m. to 11 p.m., allowing only those with a parking pass to enter the park at the normal entryway. Shuttle buses will have unrestricted access to the park, dropping off and picking up riders steps from the pavilion area.
As in previous years, attendees will enjoy numerous activities, including a car show, charity softball game, Kid Zone, vendors and shopping opportunities. Food trucks will be plentiful, offering a wide variety of meals, treats and drink choices. Providing entertainment is high-energy musical group In10City Band.
The traditional fireworks display set to music will conclude the evening’s festivities, co-sponsored by the Town of Prosper and Cedarbrook Media, publishers of Prosper Magazine. Pride in the Sky is part of the Prosper Summer Series, an offering of movies and events presented by Prosper Magazine.
