Prosper Christmas Festival set for Dec. 1 at Frontier Park

November 5, 2018

Planners are putting the finishing touches on this year’s Prosper Christmas Festival, presenting it once again at Frontier Park, 1551 Frontier Parkway, on Saturday, Dec. 1.

What began as the Prosper Country Christmas in 2008 in the downtown area with a few booths and a small stage, has grown into one of the area’s largest holiday festivals, with a parade, vendor booths, food trucks, rides, games, a thrilling fireworks display, and the participation of several thousand attendees from Prosper and surrounding communities.

Festivities begin with the Prosper Rotary and Lions Clubs Christmas Parade stepping off at 1:30 p.m., circling the park’s driveways, offering hundreds of prime viewing spots along the route.  The Christmas Parade, sponsored by the Town of Prosper, is organized by the two service organizations, with entry fees benefiting the Cornerstone Christmas Toy Drive. Information about the parade can be obtained by writing to

The festival officially starts at 2 p.m. in the soccer pavilion area on the south end of the park and will continue until the 6 p.m. fireworks display.  The ever-popular Santa’s Workshop will be overseen by the jolly old elf who will be  riding the final float in the parade.  Constant entertainment will be offered by local school and church choirs, singing groups, and other performers.

This year’s Christmas festival boasts two title sponsors: Legacy Homes – Inspired Living with Risland Homes, and Texas Health Neighborhood Care & Wellness Prosper.  Star sponsors include Prosper’s Finest A/C and Heat, The Lena Smith Group, and Superscapes.

“We are pleased to offer this event free of charge due to the tremendous support of numerous sponsors,” says Dudley Raymond, Director of Parks and Recreation. “Sponsors, volunteers and Town staff come together each year to create an outstanding experience for the community.”  For complete information about sponsors, including their website links, visit

Even though there has been an expansion of parking spaces at the park, parking will nevertheless be limited.  Traffic will be rerouted, and roads will be closed on the day of the event to accommodate vendors, food trucks and emergency personnel.  Access to the park will be restricted at 1 p.m., in preparation for the parade.  Roads will be re-opened at the conclusion of the parade.

Attendees are highly encouraged to take advantage of the free shuttles to and from the rear parking lots of Prosper High School, 301 Eagle Drive.  Shuttle service will begin at noon and will be offered throughout the afternoon.

A Tree Lighting Ceremony is being planned for downtown on Dec. 3 at 6 p.m. on the grounds of Prosper Town Hall, 200. S. Main.   Additional information on the Prosper Christmas Festival and the Tree Lighting Ceremony can be obtained by contacting Trevor Helton at or by calling 972-569-1064.
