Prosper participates in Great Texas Warrant Roundup

February 26, 2016

Representatives of law enforcement agencies and courts from more than 300 jurisdictions across Texas announced combined efforts to host the 2016 Great Texas Warrant Roundup beginning Saturday, March 5.

The roundup is designed to target thousands of defendants with traffic, parking, city ordinance, penal code, and higher charge warrants from participating jurisdictions. The focus is to bring these individuals into compliance with court orders; there are multiple options that are available to do so.

Hundreds of thousands of notices were recently mailed statewide by participating entities. Numerous counties, justices of the peace, constables, and municipalities of all sizes will participate in the roundup. It is believed to be the largest joint operation of its kind.

There are 1,556 active warrants in the Town of Prosper Municipal Court; these warrants are valued at over $597,000.00 which includes fines, fees, and State mandated court costs. Individuals are strongly encouraged to come into the court to resolve their obligations voluntarily. There are two “walk-in” dockets scheduled:

 Thursday, March 10, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

 Saturday, March 12, 2016 from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The Judge will be available at the “walk-in” dockets for people to address their cases. Options are available for individuals who are not able to pay immediately; these include payment plans or community service for those who qualify. Anyone who voluntarily appears at the Prosper Municipal Court to resolve their case(s) will not be arrested.

Affected persons are urged to contact the appropriate jurisdiction or jurisdictions during the next two weeks to dispose of their cases voluntarily to avoid the inconvenience and embarrassment of arrest.
