PROSPER – Spring training opens shortly for the major and minor league teams across the country, coinciding with the Prosper Parks and Recreation Department opening of registration for its spring 2015 season, says Recreation Services Coordinator Julie Shivers.
“Adult softball continues to be one of our more popular programs, as teams from the local area enjoy having a recreational opportunity,” she said. “We’re now getting ready to get 2015 off on the right foot by opening registration for the spring season.”
Registration is now open and will remain open until Friday, March 13. The league starts play on Thursday, March 19 and will continue for an eight-game schedule. After the eight-week league, a playoff tournament will be conducted to determine the overall champion. Games, including playoffs, are scheduled for Thursday evenings at Reynolds Middle School, 700 Coleman St.
“We crown champions for each league, and like the previous league winners, the spring season’s first place team will be awarded commemorative T-shirts,” she said. “These championship shirts are highly-valued and proudly worn by our league winners.”
Organizers will accept the first eight teams that complete their registration form for the spring season. Team members must sign a roster and play on only one team during the league. To obtain a registration packet, visit Prosper Parks & Rec Registration page.
Teams and team captains wishing to register for the league electronically, may do so at www.prosperparksandrec.org. Questions may be directed to Shivers at Julie_shivers@prospertx.gov or by calling (972) 569-1064.
