Emergency Alerts and Assistance Programs

Rave Alert

Rave Alert is a free service that provides residents with emergency information to your cell phone, email, and/or landline.  Those who opt into Rave Alerts will receive automated National Weather Service (NWS) weather warnings and other emergency alerts.  This information could include shelter-in-place or evacuation orders, weather events, hazard materials incidents, or other emergency events.

Rave Alert should send alerts automatically for the following hazards as issued by the National Weather Service: Tornado Warning, Thunderstorm Warning, Flood Warning, Flashflood Warning, Ice Storm Warning, Winter Storm Warning, Blizzard Warning, or Freeze Warning.

Rave Smart911

Rave Smart911 is a free service that allows users from across the U.S. to create a profile for their household that includes any information they want 9-1-1 to have in the event of an emergency.  If you would like to share information from your household with 9-1-1, ensure you select “Share my Smart911 Profile when I dial 9-1-1.”  When you set up your profile, the system will ask you additional questions.  Those who opt into this feature will have the opportunity to provide information that could be helpful to emergency responders in the event of an emergency.  Additional information you choose to include might be emergency contacts, medications, pets, information about your home, access codes to your property, and other pertinent information.  Once again, this information will only be accessible when you call 911.

Rave Preparedness

Rave Preparedness allows the Town of Prosper to better prepare for disaster events in the Town. We are able to run reports and query data, that is provided by residents, that can help us be better prepared.   For example, this information may be how many residents need power for medical equipment or what residents may need transportation assistance following a disaster.  If you would like to provide this information for the Town’s planning purposes, please select “Share my Profile with TX-Town of Prosper PD to support emergency preparedness”. Please note, the Town of Prosper will not access your information without you being notified.  If you call 911 in Prosper or other jurisdiction that utilizes Rave Smart 911, the information you provide in your profile will be displayed on the call takers screen.

For Rave Smart 911 and Rave Preparedness you will be asked to update and confirm your information every 6 months.

State of Texas Emergency Assistance Registry (STEAR)

The Town of Prosper participates in the State of Texas Emergency Assistance Registry (STEAR). This voluntary, free registry allows individuals to share additional information about their needs with local emergency planners and responders. Participants can provide as much or as little information as they choose. In certain situations, local officials may use this information to check in with registered individuals to ensure they do not have immediate needs, such as during a power outage or after a major disaster. However, registering in STEAR does not guarantee you will receive specific services during an emergency. If necessary, the Town will reach out to those registered by sending an automated text, call, and email. If there is no response, a live person will follow up with a phone call. If there is still no response, a Town official may attempt to visit the registered address.

We encourage residents to also register in the Town’s Rave Alert system. Information entered in STEAR will be loaded into Rave for automated notifications. By registering directly in Rave, you can provide additional details that may assist during an emergency call. If you register in STEAR but not in Rave, your information will be added to Rave as needed, and you will still receive notifications.

Disclaimer: Registering yourself in the STEAR registry DOES NOT guarantee that you will receive a specific service during an emergency.
